Background

The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute (WEHI), based in Parkville, Melbourne, is a globally renowned, Nobel Prize-winning medical research institute, home to over 90 labs and 1,300 staff and students. With a legacy spanning over 100 years, WEHI is celebrated for its pioneering research. Beyond scientific discovery, the institute is actively engaged in education, philanthropy, reconciliation efforts, and securing vital funding. The project involved the significant task of developing a strategy to present this wide range of activities in a way that was clear, intuitive, and ensured an optimal user experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Analysing and consolidating user interviews to extract key insights that informed various aspects of the website design.

  • Assisting with user interviews and research to gain context about the organisation and its structure.

  • Organising the information architecture across various pages through wireframing, ensuring templates were easily duplicable for the internal content team, and integrating content blocks for seamless navigation to relevant sections of the site.

  • Assisting with competitor analysis research to inform the information architecture, while helping to establish industry-specific terminology and website structures.
